purple letters on white envelope

Dear Editor,

I was glad to read that Heather Sample, Ashland County Democratic Party chair, said, “We hear those in our own party and those in opposition who feel those buttons were in poor taste. In retrospect, given the emotions running high in the wake of the Charlie Kirk assassination and subsequent scrutiny of criticism by the government, we should have thought about this more.”

I agree that the anti-Trump buttons asking “Is he dead yet?” were in poor taste and politically unwise, even though I think Trump is the worst thing to happen to the United States since the civil war.

Ms. Sample’s other statements criticizing the Fair board are probably politically necessary, but effectively she has apologized. I hope the issue ends there.
