Frances K. (McMahon) Murphy age 80, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home under hospice care on Friday, September 12, 2025. She was born on October 22, 1944, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to the late Raymond (Pete) and Jean (Servais) McMahon.
Fran graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1962 where she grew up and was active across multiple school groups and activities. She was part of the M&M’ers group that was made up of close high school friends that have continued to be together over lunch, dinner gatherings, travel destinations and cruises for the past five decades. Fran dedicated her entire professional life to State Farm Insurance (25+ yrs) working and retiring from State Farm Insurance Ohio Regional Office (Newark, Ohio) starting in Data Processing and finishing her career in Agency Training. She forged lasting relationships with working colleagues that continued to be close personal friends over all these years. She was a working mother but put her family life first supporting all three of her kids and grandkids through sports, school events, college sports, and life events. She always lived for family first. Fran became an avid Ohio State football fan marrying into the Murphy family with Mike K. Murphy (Ohio State graduate). They spent years going to Ohio State football, Rose Bowls, and basketball games, cruising to Alaska, and traveling across the US.
Fran is survived by her son, Brad Murphy (NC); a sister, Kathy Lapp and niece, Renee Lapp.
Along with her parents, Fran is preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael K. Murphy.
Calling hours will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday September 20, 2025, at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home; 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio, 43050. A private family graveside service will follow.
