MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Career Center HVAC program recently recognized four students who earned “On Track with HVAC” status.
Mason Flack, Clayton Vance, Josiah Colon, and Logan Miller completed the requirements to earn the designation.
HVAC instructor Brad Schmidt and the KCCC HVAC Advisory Committee created the program.
Students must complete all credentials the program requires to earn “On Track with HVAC” status. They also must pass a drug test, miss eight days or fewer of school in their junior year, and be employed with a local company through KCCC’s Work-Based Learning program.
Students who earn “On Track with HVAC” receive a tool bag full of hand tools and an
electric meter to kick-start their career in the HVAC field. The HVAC Advisory Committee, made up of local industry partners who support KCCC’s HVAC program and industry, makes the opportunity possible.
“It is a great privilege to reward a student who works hard to succeed, and is determined
to take on the next steps. This is the first group of many that will be part of ‘On Track with
HVAC.’ Congratulations, we are proud of you,” said Schmidt.
Businesses that sponsor “On Track with HVAC” include Lapp Heating & Cooling, IBEW 688, Universal Enterprise Inc., Coffing Electric, Advantage Air, and Mac Heating & Cooling.
