The Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County and Chalmers Library at Kenyon College present a screening of Banned Together in observance of Banned Books Week 2025.
Join us from 7:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 7th at Kenyon College Oden Hall Auditorium (107 College Drive, Gambier, OH 43050) to watch and discuss the award-winning documentary Banned Together.
The film pulls back the curtain on two of the most controversial issues in America today: book bans and curriculum censorship in public schools. Banned Together follows three students and their adult allies as they fight to reinstate 97 books suddenly pulled from their school libraries. As they evolve from local to national activists – meeting with bestselling/banned authors, politicians, Constitutional experts, and more – the film reveals the dark forces behind the accelerating wave of book bans in the U.S.
The post-film discussion will include tips on what you can do to preserve the freedom to read, and awesome snacks. Free visitor parking is available in the College Drive garage, and Oden Hall is fully ADA accessible. This event is open to attendees age 18+ but younger patrons are welcome to attend if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
