Steven Sharp Baker, age 76, of Utica, Ohio, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025, surrounded by family at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, Ohio. He was born on August 3, 1949, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, the son of Nathan Sharp and Ethel (Clements) Baker. Steven was a 1967 graduate of Newark High School and enjoyed a career as a direct sales associate. In his younger years, he was an active member of the Elks Lodge in Mount Vernon.

Steven enjoyed studying and reading about history, especially the World War II era, but most importantly he enjoyed being around his family. He was a devoted and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather that will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
Steven is survived by his children, Annette Baker, Steven Baker II and Angelique (Delbert) Stankorb, eight grandchildren, Falisha (Chris) Baker, Chasity Brooke Perkins, Brittney Miller, Kristina Miller, Joshua (Holly) Miller, Monique Webster, Dalton Webster, and Dakota Stankorb, thirteen great grandchildren, Warren, Masen, Aubriana, Airabella, Daisy, Carter, Ayden, Xander, Bentley, Mayla, Bryleigh, Kallie, Greyson, siblings, Pam Shannon, Barbara Chapman, Sylvia Baker, Jeffrey (Sheila) Franz and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Marvina Anne Spurlock, a sister, Kay Baker, a brother, Robert “Butch” Baker and his adopted father Robert K. “Bob” Baker.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, beginning at 12 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
