MOUNT VERNON – Mount Vernon Nazarene University athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Darren Moon as the next head coach of the Esports program on Monday, Aug. 25.
“We are very excited to welcome Darren as our next Esports coach,” said Director of Athletics, Chip Wilson. “He brings a wealth of knowledge with him to the position, and most importantly, his willingness to integrate his faith will be great for the program.
“I am thankful for his eagerness to learn, and I am excited for what’s to come with this program under his leadership.”
Moon, who had been the lead assistant for MVNU Esports, was an alumnus and a member of the Esports team during its inaugural season and had the privilege of competing for four years while helping to lay the foundation for the program.
Moon has remained deeply committed to helping build Esports at MVNU into the thriving program it is today.
“I am excited to join MVNU as head Esports coach,” said Moon. “We’ve got a talented group of players, and I’m looking forward to helping them grow, compete, and have a great time representing MVNU.”
Moon’s passion lies in mentoring players, fostering teamwork, and creating an environment where students can excel both in competition and in life. Darren has also consistently held a Top 500 ranking in Overwatch across multiple roles.
