Mary E. Gibson, age 73, of Mount Vernon passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the Laurels of Mount Vernon with her loving family at her side.
She was born on July 30, 1952, in Rome, Georgia to the late Alexander and Minnie (White) Sapp. Mary was known for her spunky personality. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was caring and selfless. She would do anything for anyone. Mary enjoyed making bracelets, coloring, word searches and especially watching western movies. Those who had the privilege of knowing her will miss her dearly.
Mary is survived by her brothers Alvin (Christina) Sapp, James (Kathy) Gibson, Joseph Gibson; her sister Alexandria Sapp; and dozens of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers Henry White, Larry Lithcomb; her sisters Sarah Gibson, Betty Gibson; and her nephew Walter Gibson.
Friends may call on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00PM. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday in Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus, beginning at 12:00PM with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating.
