Colton Scott Alexander Fields, of Cincinnati, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, July 14, 2025. He was 25.
He was born on October 7th, 1999, in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Colton was a sweet boy who touched everyone who knew him. A loving son, he always tucked his daddy into bed every morning before he began to attend school. He was an excellent student and a 2018 graduate of Mount Vernon High School where he lettered in cross country and was a member of the marching band. He was an outstanding PC gamer and spent many hours playing Battlefield, Overwatch and World of Warcraft with his kitty Charcoal by his side.
After high school he attended the University of Cincinnati and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, graduating in 2022. He was employed as a geology technician at Alt & Witzig Engineering, Inc. of Cincinnati. Being so far from home he spoke to his mother every morning either by phone or text message, just to brighten her day and to let her know he loved and missed her. She would then tell him he needed a haircut.
He is survived by so many who loved him; his parents Scott and Kim (Gratz) Fields and his brothers Austin and Ethan, all of Mount Vernon, his grandparents Bill and Barb Fields of Howard and Gene and Janice Gratz of Lexington, his uncles and aunts Shane and Kathy Fields of Fredericktown, Skyler and Carla Fields of Centerburg, Sherrod and Rachel Fields of Centerburg and Jim and Amy (Gratz) Ferguson of Mount Vernon, cousins Trevor, Katie, Kara, Travis, Sidney, Makenzie, Courtlyn, Allyson, Holly, Franko, Minka, Anika, Olivia and Cooper, numerous great-aunts and uncles and his kitty Charcoal. Also, the Shremshock family, Scott and Gloria Shremshock of Mount Vernon and their son Noah Shremshock of Cincinnati, Colton’s beloved best friend.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Judy Elaine Fields and his cousin Tyler Shane Fields.
Colton, we will love and miss you always.
