The Appalachian Trail stretches from Georgia to Maine and covers some of the most breathtaking terrain in North America: majestic mountains, silent forests, sparking lakes, and more.
Bill Bryson is not an ambitious hiker, but he is an informative and entertaining guide as he introduces readers to the history and ecology of the 2000+ mile Trail and to some of the other hardy (and foolhardy) folks he meets along the way.
A Walk in the Woods will make you long for the great outdoors(or at least a comfortable chair upon which to sit and read about those outdoors).
