Delores Green, 89, of Mount Vernon passed away on July 9, 2025, at Johnstown Pointe. She was born on December 21, 1935, to William A. and Audrey K. (Burton) Smith in Kentucky.
Delores, Dee, Madee or Mama Dee, known by many, loved her family and her grandkids. She retired from Licking Memorial Hospital where she worked as a Nursing assistant for many years. She was well known for her cooking, especially her beef and noodles. Delores enjoyed sewing, bird watching, growing flowers, playing cards and watching football. Her favorite thing was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Delores is survived by her children Donald (Candy) Wheeler of Mount Vernon, OH, Dennis (Joan) Wheeler of Richwood, OH, Darrel (Kathy Cantrell) Wheeler of Magnetic Springs, OH, Deena (Leroy) Burke of Apple Valley, OH, Jodean Pagani of Mount Vernon, OH, Jamie Dague of Fredericktown, OH; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 4 Brothers; 3 Sisters and many extended family members.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Brian Milner, 4 sisters and a daughter in law Charlotte Wheeler.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made to The Ohio Bird Sanctuary, 3774 Orweiler Rd, Mansfield, OH 44903.
Calling hours will be Monday, July 14, 2025, at Flowers – Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High Street, Mount Vernon, OH 43050 from 11:00am – 1:00pm with a funeral services at 1:00pm. Graveside services will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
