MOUNT VERNON — Ezra Kurek and Kayden Packard added another chapter to the Mount Vernon baseball story this spring.
Both Kurek and Packard were selected to the Division II first team when the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association unveiled its All-Ohio teams Monday afternoon.
A senior catcher, Kurek batted .434 with 17 runs batted in. The Eastern Michigan recruit had 13 doubles, two triples and scored 13 runs.
A senior third baseman, Packard hit .413 with eight doubles, a triple and two home runs. The Walsh recruit knocked in 23 runs and scored 19 more.
Centerburg’s Daniel Lemaster was an All-Ohio first-teamer in Division V. The senior pitcher was 12-1 with 172 strikeouts in 86 innings of work. He gave up eight earned runs and sports a 0.65 earned run average.
