MOUNT VERNON—Habitat for Humanity of Knox County announces the opening of the application cycle for its Homeownership Program. Applications are available at www.hfhknoxoh.org.

Interested individuals and families can also find essential details about the program and the qualifications required to apply.

Habitat’s Homeownership Program assists individuals and families needing safe, stable, and affordable housing. Applicants must meet specific criteria related to income, ability to pay an affordable mortgage, need, and willingness to partner.

The website clearly outlines these requirements and the application process. Upon completion of the program, applicants will be offered the opportunity to purchase their homes with an affordable mortgage at low interest rates.

Applications received during this cycle are for individuals and families seeking to move into homes within the next 1–2 years. Homes currently under construction are part of Habitat’s Columbus Road project in Mount Vernon, in partnership with the Knox County Land Bank.

This multi-home development is part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to expanding affordable housing opportunities in Knox County.

All applicants are encouraged to attend a virtual homeowner information session via Google Meet. These sessions will provide an overview of Habitat’s mission, the program requirements, and the steps involved in the application process.

“The Homeownership Program is the basis of what we do, but it is so much more than building a house. It is about building stability, not only for the families we partner with, but for the entire community,” Terry Schulz, affiliate director of Habitat for Humanity of Knox County, said.

“We encourage anyone in need of safe, affordable housing to attend an information session and learn how Habitat can be a path forward.”
