At 1:45 p.m. on April 30th, 2025, officers of the Mount Vernon Police Department Patrol
Division, and the School Resource Office responded to a report of possible gunshots at
the Knox County Career Center.
Upon their arrival, officers immediately entered the building. They, along with KCCC staff,
quickly determined the call was a false alarm. It was determined that individuals doing
routine maintenance had dropped a ladder and the subsequent commotion caused a
series of loud disturbances that the caller interpreted as gunshots.
The entire facility was also checked to ensure there were no other issues.
