MOUNT VERNON – On Saturday, May 3, Knox County OH Indivisible and Signs on the Square will host a 30-minute rally at 1 p.m. on Public Square, followed by the Indivisible group’s first public organizing meeting at 2 p.m.

The event will draw attention to elected officials’ broken promises to workers and retirees, amid growing concerns about inflation, Social Security, and access to public services.

“We’re seeing economic pressure mount on everyday people while billionaires get tax breaks,” said Meg Galipault, a Knox County Indivisible organizer. “This event is about giving people a voice and reminding elected officials who they’re supposed to serve.”

Participants are encouraged to bring signs highlighting the impact of economic policies on their lives — from high grocery prices and wage stagnation to the effects of tariffs on small businesses.

The event also aims to spotlight the uncertainty surrounding Social Security and healthcare.

“This administration promised to protect workers,” Galipault said. “But the only thing we’ve seen protected are profits.”

The national Indivisible group has been organizing since 2017 to promote grassroots civic engagement and nonviolent action.

The Knox County OH Indivisible chapter formed this March in response to the growing concerns about democracy, economic justice, and government accountability.
