Endometriosis is more common than many think. It occurs in about 1 in 10 women of reproductive age and is often diagnosed in women in their 30s and 40s. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, endometriosis is a condition in which the type of tissue that forms the lining of the uterus (the endometrium) is identified outside the uterus.
