HOWARD — Four members of the East Knox FFA recently competed in the District 7 FFA Agricultural Mechanics Career Development Event held at Southeastern Ross High School in Ross County east of Chillicothe.

Dylan Springer, Hayden Baker, Blake Elliott, and Peyton Finch finished third in the event narrowly missing qualifying for the state competition.

District 7 consists of 31 schools with FFA from Knox, Licking, Fairfield, Franklin, Pickaway, and Ross Counties.  The top two teams from each of Ohio’s ten FFA districts qualify for the state contest.

The Agricultural Mechanics competition is a hands-on event where students perform various shop skills.

In the event team members completed activities in tool identification, measured with micrometers and calipers, identified fuels and coolants, identified fasteners, completed hydraulic fluid flow problems, and performed a welding practicum. 

The Agricultural Mechanics Career Development Event is an educational activity designed to increase student knowledge and skill in the area of mechanics.
