About the event:
Millions of Americans work for poverty-level wages. Inspired in part by the rhetoric surrounding welfare reform, which promised that any job led to a better life, Barbara Ehrenreich decided to join them.
She moved from Florida to Maine to Minnesota, working at a variety of jobs. She soon discovered that even the “lowliest” occupations require exhausting mental and physical effort. She learned also that one job is not enough if you intend to live indoors.
That was 25 years ago. How might her experience be different today?
Read the book and we can discuss that.
