James M. Stone, age 88, of Butler, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Country Club Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 7, 1936, in North Liberty at the family home, the son of Glenn and Dorothy (Crunkilton) Stone. Jim retired from the Local Plumbers and Pipefitters Teamsters but also worked numerous years as a truck driver for 3C Highway and Bowmans.

Jim could be described as a simple hardworking man and when he was not at work he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, camping, or spending time outdoors. He also liked to work in his vegetable garden. Most important, Jim loved his family and friends and the time he spent with them.

He is survived by his wife Martha (Graves) Stone whom he married on September 18, 2004, his children, Alan (Michelle) Stone of Delaware, Diane Stone of Mount Vernon, Jonny (Nancy) Stone of Cardington, Gayle Payne of Mount Vernon, and Gary (Rachel) Stone of Danville, stepchildren, Sherry Frye of Columbus and Brian (Taryn) Frye of Westerville, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a brother, Robert (Debbie) Stone of New London, two sisters, Sandra Miller of Butler and Judith Fowler of Cardington.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his twin brother, John Stone.

Friends may call on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 11 am to 1 pm at the Snyder Funeral Home, Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. The family will observe a private graveside service in North Liberty Cemetery.
