Edward C. Fink, age 83, of Centerburg, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, following a brief illness. He was born on July 21, 1941, in Queens, New York, the son of Leo and Mary (Schuler) Fink. Ed was a 1959 graduate of Plainview High School. After graduation, he enrolled in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served from 1959 to 1963. On April 20 of 1963, Ed married his high school sweetheart, Eleanora Favoino.
He was employed at Pan American Airways as a mechanic for many years before transferring to Delta Airlines. After retiring from the airline, Ed worked as head of maintenance at New Hyde Park school district on Long Island. In 2008, Ed and his bride Elle moved to Centerburg, Ohio, to be closer to family and enjoy the simple life. He liked to do crossword puzzles, and he took pride in maintaining his yard. Ed and Elle collected the Dickens’ Village Series from Department 56 and loved creating different displays for friends and family to enjoy.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanora (Favoino) Fink; his children, Trish (Todd) Smith of Centerburg and Gary (Toni Ann) Fink of Centerburg; his grandchildren, Jarred Fink and Isabella Fink (Jesse Gauthier); and his sister, Peggy (Al) Micheli of North Carolina. He is remembered as a loving brother, uncle, husband, dad, and papa. Ed loved being around his family, including his many grandpets, who adored him as much as he adored them. Nothing was more important than the quality time he spent with them all.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother Leo Fink.
The family will observe private services at a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Edward C. Fink.
Memorial contributions in Ed’s name may be made to Centerburg Interchurch, payable to CISS at PO Box 751 in Centerburg, Ohio 43011.
