Barbara Ann Belcher, 84, of Mount Vernon passed away on Thursday morning, January 30, 2025, at her home surrounded by family following a courageous battle with declining health. She was born on October 2, 1940, in New Albany, Ohio, to the late Ira and Ruth (Black) Beaver.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda McManaway; a sister, Linda Birch; and a brother, Jim Beaver.
Barbara had a diverse career that included working for several companies over the years, such as Western Electric, Chattanooga, and various retail establishments. She was a former member of the Newark Eagles. While bowling was an enjoyable pastime during her youth, her true fulfillment came from centering her life around her children and grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her children, Harold (Kelly) Hayes of Mount Vernon, Kelly (Kim) Hayes of Newark, Michelle (Chris) Belcher of Mount Vernon, and Michael Hayes of Howard; grandchildren: Bambi, Alisha, Harold (Billy), Jeremy, Christopher, Ashley, Matthew, Michael, Chelsea, Emily, Travis; numerous great-grandchildren: a sister, Judy Bennett of Newark; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caring members of Capital City Hospice. The family will have a Celebration of Life and a private service at a later date.
