Miriam R. Casner, age 97, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Knox Community Hospital Emergency Room. She was born on July 28, 1927, in Dresden, Ohio, the daughter of Grover Frank and Anna Marie (Powell) McClintock. Miriam was a 1945 graduate of Jefferson High School near Dresden and then earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Music from Ohio University.
Miriam worked numerous years at Lazarus in the Northland Mall and Thomens Nursing Home in Centerburg. She was member of Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church and Eastern Star-Linden Chapter. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping and supporting her family in their daily activities. Miriam was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that will be missed dearly by her family.
She is survived by her boys, Bob (Denise) Casner of Mount Vernon, Jim (Bonnie) Casner of Centerburg, and Dave (Ginger) Casner of Mount Vernon, four grandchildren, Josh (Nikki) Casner, Jennifer Casner, Brock Casner and Sean (Jessica Corwin) Casner, two great-grandchildren, Aiden Casner and Lillyanne Casner.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold McClintock, and Joseph McClintock.
Friends may call on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 beginning at 11 a.m. Pastor Thom Fowler will be officiating, and burial will follow in Liberty Chapel Cemetery.
