Charles R. McCutchen, age 84, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Knox Community Hospital. He was born on June 2, 1940, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, the son of Paul and Sarah Ruth (Barton) McCutchen. Charles was a 1958 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and retired in 2006 from Rolls Royce, formerly Cooper Energy Services.
Charles was a member of the former Emmanuel Baptist Church and Colonial City Moose. In his free time, Charles enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, traveling with his family, fostering rescue dogs, drag racing, and taking care of his flower and vegetable gardens. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Charles is survived by his wife, Marla (Poland) McCutchen, whom he married on June 14, 1959, his son, Michael (Holly) McCutchen of Butler, a sister, Kathleen Goodin of Mount Vernon and sister-in-law, Judi Poland of Mount Vernon.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Ruth Isabelle McCutchen, brothers-in-law, Robert Poland, and Donald Goodin.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, Lasater Chapel, where friends may call two hours prior. Pastor Matt Otto will be officiating, and burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
