John “Jack” Joseph Schlairet, 78, of Mount Vernon passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He was born on July 21, 1946 in Mount Vernon to the late Paul and Catherine (Cassiday) Schlairet.

Jack earned an Associate degree in Computer Science from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. He worked as a Computer Analyst for Gorman Rupp Pumps for nearly 25 years. Jack was a member of the Saint John the Baptist Parish attending Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Jack enjoyed horses, taking his 1968 Mustang to car shows, and he was very passionate about teaching people how to be financially independent.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane (Shannon) Schlairet, whom he married on November 28, 1975; his daughters, Shannon (Cory Ward) Schlairet of Mount Vernon and Jennifer (Tyler) Stump of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Reagan and Ainsley Stump; brothers, Ed (Frances) Schlairet of Georgia and David Schlairet of Columbus; sisters, Peggy Schlairet of Florida, Kay (Bob) Bostic of Mount Vernon, Pat Schlairet of Florida, Susan (Richard) Livngston of Florida, and Janet (Les) Anticich of Pennsylvania; brothers and sisters-in-law, Chuck (Julia) Shannon of Fredericktown, David (Ronda) Shannon of Florida, Kathy Raby of Ashland, Vicky (Eric) Massa of Mount Vernon, and Frank (Dawn) Shannon of Ashland; numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved canine companion, Toby.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by brothers, Jim (Mary) Schlairet Sr., George Schlairet and an infant brother, Tommy; and sisters, Marilu (John) McGoldick and Ann Schlairet.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Rd., Mount Vernon. A prayer service with Deacon Tim Birie presiding will follow the visitation at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery near Mount Vernon.
