Carole L. Sapp, age 84, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Brookdale of Mount Vernon, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 7, 1940, in Homer, Ohio, the daughter of Charles and Clara (Hughes) Litzenberg. Carole married the love of her life, Walter Sapp, on April 2, 1967, and had fifty-seven plus years together where Walter raised those kids as if they were his own.
Carole was employed by Big Bear grocery stores for 30 years, retiring in 1996. She was always a hard worker, working as a server and raising her children. Carole also enjoyed traveling the countryside to attend the Model A Ford meet and greets, where she has developed many friendships over the years.
Carole was a big Ohio State Buckeye and East Knox Bulldog fan, and enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s events, little league baseball, football games, or anything else the kids were involved in.
Carole also liked spending her summer days at Apple Valley Lake, swimming, boating, and fishing with her best friend Irma Umbaugh, but most important were the days she spent at the lake with family get togethers where they always had good times and great eats.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Walter Sapp, her children, Vicki (Arnold) McFadden of Howard, Robert “Bob” Rine of Mount Vernon, and Marty (Julie) Sapp of Lebanon, four grandchildren, Michael Sapp, Arnold (Sayza) McFadden III, Jessica (Jave) Deitz, Jeannette Lang, and two great-grandchildren, Leila McFadden and Mala Lang.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a son Walter “Buck” Rine, two brothers, Robert Litzenberg and James Litzenberg.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, Lasater Chapel, 113307 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Seth Lindemann will be officiating and a burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
