Jeannette “Jenny” Columber, age 93, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Country Court Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 4, 1931, in Mount Vernon, Ohio the daughter of Lester “Pete” and Gertrude (Dripps) Wolf. Jenny was a 1949 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and owned and operated with her late husband Dale Columber a small grocery store at the corner of Madison and Columbus Roads. Jenny eventually retired from Clinton Township serving as secretary and trustee.
Jenny had the biggest heart of gold, and you were always greeted with a smile and a hug. She loved her “people” and always enjoyed attending or talking about her extended family and the activities they were involved in. Jenny loved to fish, golf and bowl and she belonged to several leagues in town where she competed at a high level, but she will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
She is survived by her son, William “Bill” (Sarah) Columber of Mount Vernon, her grandchildren, Isaiah Columber and Chelsey Brady, and a great-grandchild, Zoe Brady.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Columber, daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth “Cindy” and William Stillwagon.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Mr. Roger Marra will be officiating. A private graveside service will be held in Mound View Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Jenny’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, or the charity of one’s choice.
