HOWARD — Six members of the East Knox FFA recently competed in the Knox County Subdistrict Advanced Parliamentary Procedure Career Development Event held on Nov. 13 at the old Fredericktown High School.

The team consisting of Mackenzie Wilson, Hayden Baker, Blake Elliott, Braylon Evans, Jasmine Smith, and Peyton Harris placed third and received a Silver rating on a scale of Gold, Silver, or Bronze.

The team missed qualifying for the District 7 event as the top two teams in the County event advanced to the District.

In the Advanced Parliamentary Procedure competition  members had two minutes to prepare for the presentation of five required abilities that had to be handled within 12 minutes.

Each member must also demonstrate an additional parliamentary ability beyond the given required item.

One member served as chair and one filled the secretary’s duties taking minutes and submitting them at the end of the demonstration. No opening or closing ceremonies were performed.

The parliamentary procedure career development event is a hands-on assessment of students’ abilities to participate effectively in a business meeting or other group decision-making situation.
