Turkey Trot general
Instead of charging for participation, monetary and non-perishable food donations will be collected for Food For The Hungry of Knox County at the annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day.

MOUNT VERNON—The 14th Annual Food For the Hungry Turkey Trot will be held this Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28.

Registration starts at 8 a.m. on race day at the Mount Vernon Nazarene University Chapel, and the race starts at 9 a.m.

This free event is designed for runners and walkers of all ages. The goal is to participate while collecting food and monetary donations for Food For the Hungry.

“We will collect cash and food items for the local Food For the Hungry Drive (http://foodforthehungrycares.org/) that we will donate to The Salvation Army and Interchurch Social Services instead of charging to run the Turkey Trot,” said run coordinator Scott Burgess.

“We always have fun at this event, and what better way to count your blessings than to run or walk with friends and give to others! Plus, this will help you make room for all the turkey and other great food you are going to eat later in the day.”

The event is open to everyone, and canines are welcome. For more event information, contact Burgess at 740-326-0750.
