GAMBIER — The Ohio 229/308 roundabout is almost ready.
Almost.
A ribbon cutting for the Ohio Department of Transportation project is planned for Nov. 15 at 1 p.m., announced by Gambier village administration at its Nov. 4 council meeting.
The roundabout at Ohio 229/308/Laymon Road includes a shared-use pathway along Ohio 308 between Ohio 229 and Ward Street within the Village of Gambier.
The ODOT’s Highway Safety Improvement Program (HISP) is funding the project. The primary objective, according to ODOT, is to reduce fatal and injury crashes.
Construction on the roundabout began in the summer.
After the ribbon cutting is finished, Village administrator R.C. Wise said the plan is for the roundabout to be open.
Wise said Brooklynn Street will be closed for the ribbon cutting, allowing visitors to park close to the roundabout.
