LAKEVILLE: Larry Eugene Smith went to be with the Lord Saturday, November 9, 2024, surrounded by his family at the age of 89.
The youngest of 10, Larry was born on December 19, 1934, in Danville, Ohio to parents Arly & Annabelle (Phillips) Smith. He graduated from Danville High School with the class of 1953 and proudly served his country by joining the US Army. On November 22, 1968, Larry married Mary Margaret Ferris and the couple enjoyed 56 years together, raising 4 children.
Larry worked for the Flxible Bus Company in Loudonville, where he worked for over 25 years until retiring. He was also a member of the Hanover Masonic Lodge #115 in Loudonville.
An avid OSU and Brown’s Football Fan, Larry loved to watch football. He was also a connoisseur of sweets, his favorites being black licorice, caramel creams, black jelly beans, orange sherbert, and any flavor of dessert delight Margaret would make. Most of all Larry really looked forward to spending time with his family and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Mary Margaret Smith; his children Sherry (Steven) Smith-Miller, Melissa (Ed) Smith-Flinner, Michael (Jolene) Smith, and Mitchell (Brandy) Smith; his grandchildren Bryan Miller, Christoper Miller, Ashley (Richard) Vanderburgh, Kole Flinner, Kody Finner, Shelby (Jacob) Smith-Yoder, Carson Smith, Aiden Smith and Grayson Smith; his great granddaughter Addilyn Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his siblings Alice Coffield, Wanda McClain, Martha “Marcella” Goossens, Corretta Anderson, Dorothy Little, Francis McElroy, Glenn Smith, Earl Smith, and Merle Smith.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in McZena, Ohio 44638, at 2:00 p.m. with a meal preceding the celebration.
