Betty Arlene Sapp, age 95, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Mount Vernon. She was born on March 16, 1929, in Butler, Ohio, to the late Ralph C. and Mary B. (Weikert) DeVore. She was married in 1953 to Donald F. Sapp in Loudonville, Ohio.
Betty was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Betty spent most of her life caring for many people in homes around the Knox County area. She also worked at F.W. Woolworth Company, retiring after 20 years. Betty also volunteered as foster grandparents of Columbia Elementary School. Betty had a heart of gold and always tried to do the right thing.
Along with her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Sapp; brothers, Glenn DeVore, Dale DeVore, Paul DeVore; sisters, Dorothy Kelser, Maxine Weir.
Betty is survived by a sister Gladys Moody; brother, Byron DeVore; many nieces and nephews; a special niece, Vickie Joslin who was her “borrowed” daughter
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Ohio, with Deacon Tim Birie officiating.
