Nancy Charlene Rhea, age 86, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Danbury of Mount Vernon after declining health the past couple of years. She was born on August 25, 1938, in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of Charles W. and Christine (Robinson) Glass.

Charlene met her husband, Claude S. Rhea in Atlanta while she was working at Coca Cola, and he was attending Georgia Tech. They were married on August 13, 1960, by her brother Charles W. Glass at the Gordon Street Baptist Church in Atlanta.

For many years she enjoyed volunteering her time with local charities and organizations, including the Community Concert Association, Knox Community Hospital Auxiliary, Kaycees Thrift Shop and Sorosis Club. She was blessed with many lifelong friends through bridge clubs, bowling leagues, dinner clubs, and euchre nights. Charlene and Claude experienced many years of traveling and enjoyed spending their winters in Destin, Florida with their close friends.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Claude Rhea, a daughter, Michelle Rhea (Brian Hall) Rine, grandchildren, R.J. (Chelsea) Vega of Haskins, Ohio, Brittany (Dylan DeSilvestri) Rhea and Logan Rhea both of Mount Vernon, great grandchildren, Cooper and Carter Vega, Kahlee Rhea, and special nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Mitchell Rhea, daughter in law, Debra Rhea, brothers, Charles W. Glass, Jack Glass, and Buddy Glass.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where friends may call from 12 p.m. until the time of service. A burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the nurses and aids at Eastern Star Moreland Hughes Rehabilitation and The Danbury in Mount Vernon for taking such loving care of “Miss Charlene.”
