Giving Wednesday is Oct. 23 for Knox Community Hospital.

MOUNT VERNON — Mark your calendars for Oct. 23 That’s when the Foundation for Knox Community Hospital will be hosting a 24-hour giving period for donations to be made towards its Emergency Room Expansion.

“We have a compelling community need to improve access to healthcare,” the hospital stated in a press release. “As our population continues to increase, the need for emergency medical care has also increased. Space has become a challenge.

The Growing the ER for a Growing Community campaign has a goal of raising $1 million by the end of 2025 to support this project. Construction is under way to expand and renovate the emergency department to add five new exam rooms and an additional triage room.

Anyone who donates a minimum of $500 on Giving Wednesday, Oct. 23 will be entered into a drawing for a $100-value Smithhislers Meat Package. 

Up to four winners will be chosenYour gift will also be matched through a matching fund program by the Ariel Foundation.
