Arlene will long be remembered for her deep religious faith and the caring love she gave to her family, friends and community. Arlene graduated from Roaring Spring High School and began work at Roaring Spring Bank as a teller and book keeper. After marriage she moved with Ed as a supportive military wife. Her younger years were dedicated to her family life and raising her four sons. Later Arlene volunteered her time and service to many organizations in Mt. Vernon including Knox Community Hospital Auxiliary, Kaycee Thrift Shop, and Interchurch Social Services. Her deep faith in God led Arlene to regularly attend and volunteer her service to Faith Lutheran Church through bible study, church council, communion committee and altar committee. Arlene continued her volunteer service during retirement years but also cherished her time with family hosting large family gatherings on holidays, birthdays and special events. She and Ed traveled to Destin Florida each winter to enjoy the warm weather and their special snow bird friends. Arlene made many dear lifelong relationships. She and Ed treasured their time with those friends when playing bridge, hosting dinner clubs and enjoying vacations together. Ed and Arlene’s 67 year marriage left a legacy of love, care, character, grace and respect to all who knew them.
The family of Arlene would like to send their deepest gratitude to the staff at Danbury Assisted Living and Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care given to our mom, grandmother, and great grandmother.
