Letter to the Editor in purple lettering on envelope

To the Editor,

All Americans, no matter their political belief, want to be as informed as possible about the candidates on the ballot before we cast our vote.

A significant way we can find out about candidates is to see them in action, especially in a debate, where candidates answer the same questions and have a chance to respond to each other’s comments.

Unfortunately, in this election, in Ohio’s Congressional District 12, there is no debate scheduled between the two candidates, Jerrad Christian and Troy Balderson.

The reason? Troy Balderson, who is supposed to be representing us NOW, refuses to debate his opponent.

Jerrad Christian has reached out to Congressman Balderson in person and over social media. De

nison University has even offered them a venue. But Balderson has declined every offer.

What happened to voters’ rights to be informed? How does a sitting Congressman get to decide against a debate?

I urge everyone to reach out directly to Balderson to urge him to change his mind and meet with Jerrad Christian in a public debate. If Balderson refuses, we should not vote for him; it’s that simple.

Balderson’s campaign email address is info@Baldersonforcongress.com.
