PICKERINGTON — Centerburg’s Bennett Hill is headed to state.
A senior, Hill fired a 2-under 70 to take medalist honors at the Division III Central District Tournament at Turnberry Golf Club.
The Trojans nearly qualified as a team, shooting a 326 to take third.
The top team and top individual earned state berths.
Newark Catholic earned the team bid with a 325. The Green Wave won the tie-breaker over Mechanicsburg, which also carded a team total of 325.
Hill was backed by Nick Meyers, who shot a 77. Josh Hackett shot an 84, while Sanuel Lloyd carded a 95 and Julian Meyers had a 106.
The Division III state tournament will tee off Oct. 11 to 12 at NorthStar Golf Club in Sunbury.
Meanwhile, Centerburg’s girls team shot a 408 to take fourth at the Division II district at The Link at Echo Springs in Johnstown.
Only the top team and top individual qualified for state tournament.
Columbus Academy earned the team bid with a 336. The individual berth up for grabs went to Columbus Academy’s Eva Lim, who carded a one-over 73.
Avery Glenn led the Trojans with an 85, good for 10th overall. She was followed by Olivia Griffith (93), Evie Stowe (98), Tesla Blankenship (132) and Regan Williams (156).
The Trojans won a sectional title last week at Darby Creek.
