CENTERBURG — The Trojans are locked dialed in.
Centerburg’s girls golf team won the Division II sectional at Darby Creek earlier this week, while the boys took runner-up honors at the Division III Denison sectional in Granville.
The girls carded a team score of 354, well ahead of runner-up Heath (361). North Union (397) was third.
The top three teams and top three individuals not on a qualifying team advanced to next week’s district tournament at The LInks at Echo Springs in Johnstown.
Avery Glenn led Centerburg with a 76. The senior shared sectional medalist honors with Trina So of Worthington Christian.
Evie Stowe backed Glenn with an 83 for Centerburg. Olivia Griffith (94), Tesla Blankenship (101) and Regan Williams (113) rounded out the scoring for the Trojans.
The Centerburg boys carded a team total of 325 to grab the second of two automatic qualifying spots to next week’s district at Turnberry Golf Club in Pickerington. Newark Catholic (311) won the sectional title.
Bennett Hill took medalist honors for Centerburg with a 72. He was followed by Josh Hackett (79), Nick Meyers (81), Samuel Lloyd (93) and Vinny Morgan (116).
In Division II boys action, East Knox finished fifth at Darby Creek. The Bulldogs carded a 381.
Fairbanks (306) won the sectional title, while Pleasant (310) was second. Only the top two teams and individuals at Darby Creek qualified for the district.
Jeffrey Cook led East Knox with a 90. He was followed by A.J. Baxter (96), Beau Keller (97) and Caleb Armstrong (98).
Fredericktown’s Cooper Lowe and Braxton Horlacher competed at the Division II sectional at Denison. Lowe and Horlacher carded matching 88s, one stroke out of the final individual district-qualifying spot.
