Frederick C.  “Chris” Marchand, 76, of Bokeelia, Florida formerly of Mount Vernon passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center after a courageous battle with declining health.  He was born on April 17, 1948 in Brenham, Texas the late Jack L. and Dorothy E. (Winkelmann) Marchand.

Chris retired as the Vice President of 4-M Box Company and had previously worked for International Paper.  He enjoyed racing vintage go-carts and watching and coaching his granddaughter in tennis.  Chris was a past president of the Jaycees, volunteered with Junior Miss and was one of the founders of girls’ softball in Mount Vernon.  He was also a member of Sports Car Club of America.

Chris is survived by his wife, Joyce (Starnes) Marchand whom he married on June 8, 1968; daughter, Christi (Thomas) Baldwin of Mount Vernon; granddaughter, Hannah (Marcus Koetz) Baldwin of Mount Vernon; a great grandson on the way; and a brother, Jeff (Dolores) Marchand of Tuxedo Park, NY.

In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Marchand.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Flowers Chapel, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon. 

The family will observe a private service at a later date.
