MOUNT VERNON – Women United announces a $5,000 grant to Lifepoint Church’s Backpacks of Hope program, which supports children from all six Mount Vernon school district elementary schools and the Knox County Career Center preschool.

During the 2023-2024 school year, Backpacks of Hope served over 100 children and distributed 3,178 bags of food. That equates to 12,712 meals and addresses the critical issue of weekend hunger among young students.

Women United’s mission focuses on supporting educational opportunities and enhancing the well-being of children and families within Knox County. The group is thrilled to support the Backpacks of Hope program, which aligns with its ultimate goal of fostering a nurturing environment for every child in our community.
