MOUNT VERNON – The Exchange Club of Mount Vernon & Knox County presents the Field of Honor at Ariel-Foundation Park over Labor Day weekend. The event runs from Friday, Aug. 30, to Monday, Sept. 2.

This awe-inspiring event features 500 United States flags, each standing as a silent tribute to the heroes among us.

For four days and three nights, Ariel-Foundation Park will be transformed into a sea of red, white, and blue as these flags fly solemnly, creating a breathtaking panorama that resonates with the spirit of patriotism and community. Each flag represents an individual and carries a story of courage, sacrifice, and service.

The Field of Honor offers a unique opportunity for the community to come together and remember and honor the many heroes who touch our lives. Whether they are first responders, community or faith leaders, military veterans, active-duty personnel, medical professionals, or beloved family members, this tribute allows us to recognize and celebrate their contributions.

Community members can participate by purchasing and dedicating a flag in honor or memory of their local hero. Exchange Club members will tag each flagpole with the honoree’s name. Adorned with a ribbon, these flags will fly proudly throughout the event. This is a meaningful way to show gratitude and ensure their legacy is honored.

Special activities are planned throughout the weekend, making this event a time for reflection and a celebration of the values that unite us. We encourage everyone to visit Ariel-Foundation Park during Labor Day weekend to experience this powerful display of community spirit and patriotism.
