BUTLER: Jack Stewart, 74, of Butler, passed away Friday evening August 16, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with cancer.

The son of Leroy and Janet (Barnby) Stewart, Jack was born March 14, 1950 in Galion and graduated from Clear Fork High School in 1969. Just two years later on June 26, 1971 he married his high school sweetheart Sheila Jarvis.

Hardworking and dedicated to his profession, Jack was a truck driver. It’s what he loved and what he loved doing. On the road most days of the week, along with Sheila and their dogs, Jack was content behind the wheel. In total, he spent 50 years as a truck driver.

Jack and Sheila were inseparable. When the two weren’t together on the highway, they ran errands together and enjoyed time with their family. Jack loved his dogs Jes and Buddy who always accompanied Jack and Sheila on work trips.

Jack was a member of Bunkerhill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Sheila Stewart of Butler; daughters Shennon (Tony) Weirich of Butler and Melissa (Tom) Breneman of Perrysville; grandchildren Taylor (Jonathan) Pickering, Hunter Weirich, Mackenzie Breneman, and Trevor Breneman; great grandchildren Reagan and Tatum Pickering; mother Janet Stewart; brother Larry Stewart; along with numerous nieces nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father Leroy Stewart and brothers Richard and Donald Stewart.

Private funeral services will be held at the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home and burial will be in Zion Four Corners Cemetery near Butler.
