Larry D. Hall, age 82, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Knox Community Hospital. He was born on September 18, 1941, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, the son of Leslie and Dorothy (Baldwin) Hall. Larry Was a 1959 graduate of Homer High School and proudly served in the Army Reserves and Ohio National Guard.
Larry retired in 2001 after thirty plus years as a machinist for Owens-Corning in Newark and ten years at Cooper Energy Services. He was a member of Brandon Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Larry also served twenty plus years on the Knox County Fair Board and still found time to complete the daily chores on his cattle and horse farm. His love for horses ran deep and he shared this with his two sons, as together, they were actively involved in harness racing. Larry, also known as the “Duke” too many, loved his country westerns.
Larry is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Lois (Jacobson) Hall, his sons, Tom (Shelly) Hall of Shiloh, Erik (Dawn) Hall of Mount Vernon, four grandchildren, Colton Sundstrom, Matilyn Hall, Katilyn (Lincoln Hoam) Hall and Devyn Hall, two sisters, Judy (Wes) Hines of Mount Vernon, Linda (Ron) Conkle of Mount Vernon, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Hall, and Bradley “Brad” Hall.
Friends may call on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A funeral service will be held on Friday, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Brandon Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Snow officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow in Brandon Cemetery.
