Williams, P. Douglas, baptized into the hope of Christ’s resurrection, Monday, July 29, 2024.

Beloved husband of Christine Williams (nee White); dearest father of Brock (Tammi) Williams and Chris (Daniela) Williams; dear grandfather of Austin, Ella, Lucia and Paulo Williams; loving son of the late Paul and Grace Williams and son-in-law of the late Carrol and Anna White; our dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend of many.

Doug grew up in Mount Vernon and loved his hometown.  His parents owned Paul’s Flowers and Doug’s first paid employment was folding boxes for the store, then as a “runner” delivering flowers and finally as the driver making deliveries.  He learned his love for flowers and commerce at Paul’s.

He learned to golf at age 10 at the Mount Vernon Country Club and was an avid golfer for his entire life – always searching to lower his score, be competitive and later to “shoot his age”. Any day on the golf course was a good day for him.  His golfing buddies were his best companions.  He loved tournaments and especially loved organizing fall golfing trips to Alabama.  He always enjoyed the fun banter of his friends.

Doug and Christine married in 1968 at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Mount Vernon…and celebrated 56 anniversaries together.  He was an unfailing husband and father.  He guided his sons, Brock and Chris with kindness and example and loved watching them become fine men, husbands and fathers.  He also gifted his sons with his same quirky sense of humor.  What fun!

Doug graduated from Ohio University in 1968.  His professional career included Working as an auditor, corporate accounting, mergers and acquisitions and financial management.  His real forte was guiding challenged ventures.  His final career he guided not-for profit organizations and excelled at managing business with compassion.
