MOUNT VERNON — Backpacks of Hope is dedicated to providing healthy food to hungry elementary children in the Mount Vernon School District.
The program is a ministry of Lifepoint Church.
“We are thrilled to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the generous donors who have made significant contributions to our cause through our Third Annual Backpacks of Hope Golf Scramble in memory of Steve Schlosser,” said Executive Pastor Bryan Wolf.
Wolf said that donors’ support over the past three years has been nothing short of inspiring. Thanks to their unwavering commitment and generosity, the golf outing raised over $17,700 for the 2024-25 school year.
“Our donors and volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization,” said Wolf. “Their contributions enable us to make a real, tangible difference in the lives of the elementary children we serve.
“We are incredibly grateful for their support and trust in our mission as we seek to love God, love people, and make disciples of Jesus Christ.”
During the 2023-24 school year, the program served over 100 children and provided 3,178 bags of food. That equates to 12,712 meals. Backpacks of Hope is excited about the possibilities that lie ahead.
“We are committed to continuing our work and expanding our reach. We know that with the ongoing support of our donors and volunteers, we can achieve even greater things,” said Wolf.
Wolf invites the community to celebrate these accomplishments and continue supporting the group’s mission.
“Together, we can make a difference,” he said.
