Knox Public Health adds a third IT position

MOUNT VERNON — Knox Public Health board approved a third information technology (IT) position at Wednesday’s board meeting.

There are currently two IT employees on staff, health commissioner Zach Green said. The health center and general fund would pay for the position. Fiscal director Katie Hunter said that a third IT position wasn’t included in the current budget, but due to other positions listed on the budget that aren’t filled, there’s room to add a third IT employee.

The position was added due to the heavy workload of the current department, Green said.

The IT position’s salary will be determined once the job description is finalized, Green said.

The board also accepted a $117,000 Ohio Dept. of Health tobacco use and cessation grant, which focuses on reducing tobacco use and increasing education efforts.
