Francis Michael Schillaci, age 77, of Mount Vernon, Ohio and formerly of Waco, Texas and Mentor, Ohio, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, at the Knox Community Hospital. He was born on June 26, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Frank and Margaret “Peg” (Troup) Schillaci. Michael was a 1964 graduate of St. Joseph High School in Mentor, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He later graduated from Lakeland Community College. He proudly served his Country in the United States Marine Corps.
Michael previously worked for Mr. Rooter in the Cleveland area before serving as vice president of Mr. Rooter of the DWYER Group in Waco, Texas for over 20 years. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and has collected baseball cards since a young age. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Valerie (Vargo) Schillaci, whom he married on June 8, 1985, his children, Garrett Schillaci, Ben (Ezdra) Standfield and Laura Standfield, five grandchildren, and a great granddaughter, a brother, Joe (Brenda) Schillaci and a sister, Kathy Nitza.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Schillaci, two sisters, Karen Berta and Margueritte Schafer.
Friends may call on Monday, June 10, 2024, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. A Christian Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 beginning at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 101 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. Rev. Larry Crowell will be Celebrant. Burial with military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon, Ohio.
