Walter Blair Williams, 77, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024, in his home with his wife and a friend near him.

He was born on February 25, 1947, in Wheeling, West Virginia to the late Walter Blair Williams, Sr. and Alice Elizabeth (Meyers) Williams.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Andrea (Podgurski) Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Karen Kohler Williams, dear family and friends he treasured and kept in close contact, calling many of them weekly or even daily. Committed to his Lord Jesus Christ, he carried everyone in his daily prayers.

Blair was a man with a big, caring heart. His passion was rescuing any lost creatures that crossed his path, not only his many beloved dogs, but also cats, and even a cockatiel named Fritz. His effort to rescue a mother dog and her litter of twelve pups was photographed in the Wheeling News Register in December, 1988, together with his veterinarian, Dr. James Radcliffe. He served eight years in the United States Navy Reserve with diligence and dedication to his duty. He was an entrepreneur of many talents – owner/operator of a pizza shop, a property management company, a licensed home inspection service, an independent contractor property claims adjuster and claims examiner.

Blair is sadly missed by his wife, family and friends, and his last little dachsy dog, Dixie, whom he called “angel pie.”

The family is planning a memorial service for a future date to be announced.

The Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel is handling the arrangements for the family.
