Marcella E. Phillips, age 78, of Mount Vernon passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the Knox Community Hospital.

She was born on August 29, 1945, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Clarence and Irene (Campbell) Baney. She was a member of the Utica High School class of ’63. Marcella was employed at numerous facilities as an STNA (State-Tested Nurse Aide) and most recently at Dr. Atwell, DPM. She was a member of the Green Valley Chapel United Methodist Church. Marcella and her husband Paul were also very active with the Knox Chapter #236 Order of Eastern Star where she served as Treasurer, a past Worthy Matron, Grand Representative to Florida for 2019-2020, and was also honored to be the Grand Page to the Grand Worthy Matron this upcoming fall. Marcella enjoyed crafts, sewing, crocheting, cooking and baking. But most of all, she loved the time she got to spend with her family and close friends.

Marcella is survived by her husband Paul Phillips; her son Dennis (Claudia) Phillips; two daughters, Carolyn (Ron) Winget, Karina (David) Olney; and five grandchildren, Shaughnessy Rogers, Brent Winget, Bethany Winget, Elaina Olney, and Autumn Olney.

In addition to her parents, Marcella was preceded in death by her brother, Darrell Baney.
In keeping with Marcella’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 8th beginning at 10:30 am at the Green Valley Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Thomas W. Abraham officiating.
