Thomas (Tom) F. Arnold, age 73, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones after a short illness on Friday, May 17, 2024. He was born in Mount Vernon on July 14, 1950, to the late Edward and Phyllis (Blubaugh) Arnold. Tom graduated from East Knox High School in 1968.
Tom retired from the Drexel J Thrash Ohio Laborers Training Center after 30 years of employment. He also spent many years maintaining his own business doing electrical, plumbing, and heating work. He was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
In post-retirement Tom enjoyed transporting Amish, hunting, playing cards, gardening, and working around the house on his John Deere tractors. He loved spending time with his children and spoiling his grandchildren and great grandson.
Tom is survived by his wife of 51 years, Karen (Hedrick) Arnold, whom he married on November 25, 1972; his children, Johnathan (Marsha) Arnold of Washington Courthouse, Elizabeth (Charles) Powell of Howard, Tim (Heather) Arnold of Mount Vernon, and Rebecca (Colton) Tucker of Fredericksburg, Virginia, nine grandchildren and a great grandson; siblings George (Brenda) Arnold of Danville, Steve Arnold of Mount Vernon, Susan (Frank) Diamond of Pataskala, Jean (Steve) Foucht of La Grange, North Carolina, Jane (Floyd) Stolzenburg of Reynoldsburg, and Judy (Randy) Miller of Danville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John Arnold.
Friends may call on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, beginning at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Father Homer Blubaugh will be Celebrant and burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery in Danville.
