Rodger R. Hill, 80, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, at his residence.

He was born on October 22, 1943, in Mount Vernon, Ohio to the late Conard J. Hill and Pauline (Reagh) Hill.

Rodger was a U.S. Army Veteran and stationed in Pittsburgh, PA in the radar facility from 1964 to 1968. Rodger worked and retired from American Electric Power.

Rodger was an avid sports fan, especially his Buckeyes, Browns, and Indians. He was extremely active in youth sports, coaching many years of baseball at all levels, while winning many championships. He took great pride in mentoring his players, encouraging them to be their best. To this day many will sit around and share their memories of those days. He made a large impact on many young athletes.

Rodger was a broadcaster on Mt. Vernon basketball, baseball, and football games for WMVO for nearly 30 years, 15 years was with Dave Bevington.

He is survived by his two sons, Douglas (Lisa) Hill and Lance (Teri) Hill, grandchildren, Logan (Natalie) Hill, Nathan Hill, Josh Hogg, a great-granddaughter, Vera Hill; sister, Carol (Denny) Sirbaugh, niece Jennifer (David) Shipley, great-nephew, Chase Sankovich and great-niece, Chloe Sankovich, his caregiver, Amanda Cherup, along with his beloved cat, Bob.

He was preceded in death by his wife Christine K. Hill whom he married September 21, 1985.

The family is observing a private burial in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens beside his late wife, Christine K. Hill.
