DANVILLE: Michael Joseph Bennett Sr. passed away on Saturday morning, May 11, 2024, in Ohio Health Riverside Hospital surrounded by his family at the age of 77.
He was born on December 16, 1946, in Lancaster, Ohio to parents Robert & Ruth Bennett and graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School with the class of 1965.
Micheal worked at Hissan in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, where he retired in 2004 as the head of maintenance.
Michael was a collector of all things that could be collected. He especially enjoyed collecting tools, tinkering, and going to auctions and flea markets. Also, an outdoorsman, Michael looked forward to fishing, hunting, and riding around on anything with wheels.
He is survived by his sons Michael Bennett Jr. and Jerry Bennett; his step-sons Brian (Laura) Chapman, Brad Chapman, and Brent Chapman; his fiancé Patricia Hudson; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and his siblings Bob (Roxann) Bennett, Bonnie (Jon) Figgins, Steve (Mary) Bennett, Theresa (Tom) Spencer, Don (Betty) Bennett, Mary (Bill) Dittoe, George (Betty) Bennett, Anthony (Rita) Bennett, and Joseph Bennett.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his wife Suellen Bennett; his brother Francis Bennett; and 2 grandsons.
The Bennett family will receive friends on Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Snyder Funeral Home- Lindsey Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 11 a.m. Celebrant Dave Roberts will speak and burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.
